Frequently Asked Questions about KOM Hunter

We grab your Strava ID, name, profile pic, and activities so we can show you your segments and track your KOM hunting progress. Your data stays with us, we never share it with anyone else.

More specifically, when you connect your Strava account, the following permissions are required:

• View your private non-activity data such as segments and routes: required to show your routes
• Edit certain data on your profile: required to be able to star/unstar segments
• View data about your activities: required to get your activities and the (public) segments from those
• View data about your private activities: (Optional) gets segment efforts from your private activities

Nope! We only work with public segments to keep things fair and fun for everyone. If you're not seeing a segment you expected, just check your Strava privacy settings to make sure it's set to public - then you're good to go!

Super fresh! Wind and weather conditions refresh every 15 minutes, so you're always getting the latest forecasts to plan your perfect tailwind ride or run.

Absolutely! That's where the magic happens. Our route builder lets you chain together multiple segments with favorable wind conditions. Head over to the segments page in the dashboard, select the segments you want to build a route with, and click the "Build route" button. You'll get a rideable GPX that you can upload to your bike computer.

We sync your personal bests straight from Strava, but new activities can take some time to appear due to Strava's API limits. Don't worry - your latest PR will show up soon!

You bet! While wind gives cyclists a bigger boost, runners can still get a sweet advantage from tailwinds, especially on longer segments. Same concept, same fun: we'll show you running segments where Mother Nature is on your side.

That's probably a hidden segment - the ones that show up at the end of an activity under the "Hidden Efforts" button. Strava keeps these under wraps in their API so we can't access them. You can still get the KOM for the underlying segment though!

The Windfall Score is the number we put next to every segment that tells you, in one glance, how likely you are to take a KOM or QOM right now. It blends three signals:

• Real-time wind and weather on the segment for the time you're searching
• Segment characteristics - its history, popularity, and current KOM/QOM time
• Your own performance - the power data we pull from your Strava activities

Scores typically range from around 50 to 200+ and fall into four tiers:

• Strong - 120 and above. Conditions are loaded; this is the day to go for it.
• Good - 90 to 119. Solid windfall, well worth a shot.
• Fair - 70 to 89. Possible if you're on form, but not the easy KOM.
• Low - below 70. Save your legs.

Free users see the top 3 Windfall Scores per search; premium users see all 50.

Windfall Scores require power-meter data. We use your Strava power activities to personalise the ranking. Without a power meter, you still see live tailwind speeds for every segment. Same wind signal, just not weighted to your fitness.

Radar is our email alert feature for premium users. You set a location, the days and times you usually ride, and a minimum Windfall Score, and we'll email you when future weather conditions line up with a winnable KOM in your area. Radar only targets future forecast windows - current and same-day conditions are something you check on the website. You can manage Radar from the Radar tab in the dashboard.

Yes! The day and hour slider on the segments page lets you scrub up to 3 days into the future, hour by hour, so you can plan tomorrow morning's ride or this weekend's KOM attempt rather than just reacting to right now. The 3-day forecast slider is a premium feature.

Free includes:

• Up to 3 searches per day
• Current weather conditions
• Top 3 Windfall Scores per search (with power-meter data)
• Live tailwind speeds on every segment
• Up to 3 starred segments per day
• Filtering by surface, type, and name

Premium adds:

• All 50 Windfall Scores per search (with power-meter data)
• 3-day hourly weather forecast slider

Non-power-meter users see live tailwind speeds for every segment on both tiers.

Both ride and run segments are supported. KOM Hunter works equally well whether you're hunting a cycling KOM/QOM or a running CR, and you can filter the segments page by activity type.

The Achievements page in the dashboard tracks the milestones you've unlocked using KOM Hunter - KOMs and QOMs you've taken, segments you've starred, routes you've built, and other progress markers in your KOM hunting journey.

You can cancel your subscription at any time. Go to the subscription page in the dashboard and click the "Cancel Subscription" button - you'll be routed through the Stripe customer portal to confirm.

You can delete your account at any time. Go to your profile page and click the "Delete Account" button. It automatically deletes your account and cancels your subscription.
